Thank you to everyone who had a look at my first group exhibition!! Saying that that it would be a success is an understatement. I'd love to see all your faces again on July 1st. I am utmost excited to finally get my hands on a copy of the 2011 Semi Permanent book! When it comes to Melbourne I'll definetly be there. Also, my first exhibition was brilliant and I'll put up photo's soon once I receive some.

So it's the new year, and I've been drawing furiously, which feels great. I've been keeping my head down for days on end exploring new techniques and media to use. I'm planning to create a lot more canvas art and hopefully a time lapse video some time soon.

I've been travelling a fair bit these past two weeks and I've experience a wide variety of environments in victoria. There have been vast desolate fields, man-made monoliths and unseen pockets of beauty. I've come across all sorts of people from alcoholic mothers, creative geniuses to grumpy cats. Being so far away from the city the night sky blew my mind. I had never seen the stars to abundant before.

Some nights I reached the threshold of my capacity for fatigue having stayed up until 8am in a leaky forest with some of the most interesting people you'll ever meet.

The top drawing is an exploration of typography and mystical illustration, which reads 'Cult Leader', inspired by the music Stefan Imbesi has given me. Below is an image of one of my biggest inspirations, Chris Palko himself.

Recently I've taken a massive interest in the work of the artist 'Skinner'. The above drawings are inspired by him! If you're not familiar you should totally check him out, his illustrations are beyond amazing.

The top piece is what I think a witch would look like as a toddler. Her name is Sandra and when countryfolk travel into the forest she lures them into a cabin with her childish laughter. These people never leave the cabin. What happens inside? You decide.

I really miss everyone from the Collective. I can't wait for second semester.

One day I'd like to live in a dark, warm, cosy tower resembling a cathedral. I'd have many kittens lingering around the dim household, whilst owls gently snooze on my ornate, stone balcony, keeping two proud and elegant gargoyles company. Maybe I'd actually name the gargoyles Proud and Elegant and they'll sit together watching the city for as long as the stone can remain in-tact. My cats would make sure there are no spiders in the house.

This intellectual black hole reeks of cologne and lies.

First semester is over. I know will have about five weeks to hibernate in my candlelit catacomb, producing mountains of drawings and rejected beings who live in my abandonded train station of a sketchbook.

The freshest air

Nobody can do the same thing for too long. We get sick of routine easily and fine ourselves resenting our repetitive lifestyle. This may be why so many people find little purpose or worth in their lives, since their career choice has led them into a creative dead-end, stale and unfulfilling. Having stated that, I think sometimes you've got to say to yourself 'Screw it', and do something you've never done before, take a risk and ruffle up your feathers. As I've said to my good friend Darren Oorloff , "Sometimes you gotta get on the train, even if it's not the one you need to take". Screw it. Get on the train and see where it takes you.

The framed piece is named "Inside the Torturous Labyrinth of Romantic Endeavors", and it has been sold. I am so stoked that people are taking such an interest in my work!

Last night whilst trying to fall asleep (this is usually very difficult for me), I thought of this..

An artist places a line on paper in the same manner a musician choses the next note in a sequence. Just like in music, visual art has many styles, instruments of application and is universal. Anyone can draw, paint or sculpt an absolute masterpiece, it just takes innumerable hours of practice in refining the skills required to do so, just like learning and mastering a musical instrument.

Recently I met a wonderful girl named Diana Marcela. Her artwork is amazing and doesn't fail to inspire me, and I'm sure, many others. Her tonal work is stunning, as seen above.

This is Mr. Satellite. He is quite lonesome and utilizes his cylindrical purple neck to maneuver his glance in search of purpose. He also regularly drips a curious green ectoplasm.

The primary inspiration for this piece is, of course, Alex Pardee. If you aren't familiar with his work I have no faith left in the internet community.

Anyway, I used watercolour and ink, with pencil and paint marker highlights.

Good? Bad? You decide. I can't make my mind up with this fellow.

So I've been meaning to update my blog with a recent painting or two, but my sister has the camera so therefore I can't photograph the damn things until tomorrow.
I thought I'd update anyway and tell you about last night's dream.
I was with a group of friends who were lighting fires on the road in Balwyn. Little did we know, the authorities were after us and they resembled the 'Scout' from Killzone 2. So we started to run and before I knew it I was leaping across roofs, threading my way through a suburban maze. Suddenly, I landed in a peculiar back yard and found myself surrounded by electrical wire and fencing. To my horror I was trapped, until a beautiful kitten approached me and demonstrated how to escape. The actions required are too complex to describe here. However, I know that cats love me, because they know I love them.

I want a cat. :(

The Embodiment of Permanence

I've spent a long time on this little fellow. I'm still deciding whether he is finished or not. He's just your average nine to five zombie, embedded into the fabric of a commercially saturated society.
This will be framed soon, and hopefully I can sell it next year! Yes.

Brick Wall, Koi Fish? ME!

I recently purchased some .005 Fineliners. The thinness of these is amazing and the lines are so crisp! In this image I tried to illustrate a fence, which ended up resembling the scales of a Koi Fish.
This is the Carrot / Brick Wall demon who haunts me every time I visit a garden surrounded by walls.

Above that is me, and the mental calculations that take place in my mind whilst painting walls.
